2026 BOX HILL JUNIOR RAPID CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP
Schedule: Sunday 5th July 2026
Time: 11am registration for 12:00pm start.
Playing Venue: Glen Waverley Secondary College School. O'Sullivan Road, Glen Waverley VIC 3150
Tournament: 7 Round Swiss. Round 1 - 12noon; Round 2 – 12.40pm; Round 3 – 1.20pm; Round 4 – 2pm; Round 5 – 2.40pm; Round 6 – 3pm; Round 7 – 3.40pm. Prizegiving – after completion of individual age tournament about 4 to 4:30 pm
Rate of Play: 10 minutes plus 3 second increment from move 1.
Rating: ACF Quick Rated
Age Divisions:
Age-Group: The Open and Girls only tournaments will be separate tournaments.
• For girls, they can elect to play in the Girls only or open tournament but not both.
• For boys and girls, they can elect to play in an older age-group.
Divisions available:
Open U8 U10 U12 U14 U16 U18
Girls U8 U10 U12 U14 U16 U18
Age Divisions:
• Under-18 : Year of birth 2008 or after
• Under-16: Year of birth 2010 or after
• Under-14 : Year of birth 2012 or after
• Under-12 : Year of birth 2014 or after
• Under-10: Year of birth 2016 or after
• Under-8 : Year of birth 2018 or after
Note: Some age groups may be required to be combined if there are insufficient numbers. Awarding of trophies/medallions will be according to the ACF by-law
Prize Giving: at about 4 to 4:30 pm. Trophies/medallions for 1st, 2nd, 3rd Open and Girls based on Tie Breaker System (Sum of Progressive; Buchholz (cut 1); Buchholz (total); Sonneborn-Berger

For U8/10 players: A parent/guardian must be at the venue at all times during the tournament and responsible for the behaviour of their child
Drop off by parents/ guardians (from 11:00 am):
• Enter via Sneddon Drive car park
• Players will be told which room they will be allocated to play their 1st round game
Refunds
Players withdrawing before Monday 29th June are entitled to a full refund, less processing fees. If a player withdraws on Friday 3rd July a 50% refund will be issued. Any player who withdraws on Sunday 5th July forfeits their registration fee.
