Diabetes WA offers a suite of training programs for health professionals combining the latest in evidence-based recommendations in diabetes care with self-management principles. Training programs are delivered by credentialed diabetes educators.
Person-centred care is at the heart of what we do, and this carries true for our training. Our programs are designed around interaction and increasing knowledge and confidence to apply what you have learnt to best support people living with diabetes.

In GDM management the focus often centres on maintaining glucose targets, but this presentation broadens the perspective, emphasizing the importance of nutritional adequacy and healthy weight gain as essential for holistic care. Supporting these areas within healthcare settings can help reduce complications and enhance well-being throughout pregnancy.
This presentation also highlights the need for balanced, client-centered language, helping healthcare providers tailor education to each GDM mother’s unique physical, social, cultural, and emotional needs.
Linda Bradbury, an Accredited Practicing Dietitian & Credentialled Diabetes Educator, brings eight years of experience. She plays a key role in the Diabetes WA GDM Telehealth team, enhancing education and leading content and policy updates. Recently, she led the development of dietetic content for the new Diabetes WA GDM app, reflecting her commitment to advancing client care and her focus on GDM.

We’re bringing together leading diabetes technology companies, credentialled diabetes educators, and community members living with type 1 diabetes — all under one roof for one evening.
What to Expect
The evening kicks off with a one-hour presentation from our credentialled diabetes educators. You’ll get an easy-to-understand overview of the current technology landscape, learn how each option works, understand the key differences between them, and hear helpful questions to ask when working out which device might suit your needs. After the presentation, you’ll have the chance to explore expo-style stands, speak directly with company representatives, and connect with other people in the WA type 1 diabetes community.

Dr Ong is the principal endocrinologist for Diabetes Connect and has clinical appointments at Fiona Stanley Hospital, Fremantle Hospital, and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital where he previously served as clinical lead (Director) of Acute Internal Medicine. Greg can assist you with the management of any aspect of adult diabetes including diabetes in pregnancy.
