Echuca Steam Train Rides - 7th June 2025

• Steamrail Victoria invites you to ride on our historical steam train shuttles at Echuca for a journey behind steam locomotive R711 and vintage diesel locomotive S301.

• Join us as we visit Echuca on for a 55 minute return steam train ride from Echuca Railway Station towards Rochester, returning to Echuca.
• Our shuttle trips run 21km south along the Campaspe Plains towards Rochester to the 229 kilometre post from Melbourne.
• Take a seat in our heritage compartment style carriages with beautiful wood veneer panelling, pressed tin ceilings and opening windows to fully experience the steam era!
• Come along for a ride on The Vintage Train for a fun family day out through Northern Victoria.

• Our on-train facilities include a kiosk which stocks a range of light refreshments, snacks and hot and cold drinks. A licensed bar will also be operating, serving a range of beers, wines and spirits. A range of souvenirs will also be able for purchase from our on-board store.

You should ensure you are at the departure station at least 15 minutes prior to the advertised departure time. Please double check departure times the day prior to travelling as they can be subject to minor change.

Visit the town of Echuca, located on the picturesque Murray River. The Murray River and the towns many shops and restaurants can all be reached within a 25 minute walk from the Railway Station.

Experience the rich history of the Port of Echuca at your own pace, or on a 1 hour guided tour, running daily at 11:30am and 1:30pm. The tour guides will transport you back to the 1800's and set the scene of what life was like in the Port of Echuca's heyday.

The Steam, Iron and Trades Revival is taking place at Rotary Park, 7 Rose Street. 
Attractions include: Steam Power Displays, Working Horses, Demonstrations, Lost Trades, Classic Vehicles, Miniature Railway, and Country Cooking. Be sure not to miss this fantastic display of history!
Tickets can be purchased at the gate. Local busses and V/Line coaches can be used to reach the event - please plan ahead using the PTV Journey Planner.

The Echuca Farmers Market will be running until 12:00pm at 2 Heygarth Street, only 10 minutes walk from the Station. Walk through the variety of stalls with seasonal fruit and vegetables, preserves, flowers, baked goods and fresh meat and seafood.
