First Reconciliation & First Eucharist programme
The programme is open to children, referred to as “candidates” in Year 4 and above, who have received their Confirmation with the Catholic Church. When deciding whether or not to embark on this programme, please consider the age and maturity of your child:
First Reconciliation
The programme begins with a compulsory Parent and Candidate Information Session: Saturday, 14 June at 3 pm (this is a combined First Reconciliation and First Eucharist meeting).
Requirements for Completion:
A parent and the candidate are required to attend the following:
- Parent and Candidate Info Session
- Two (additional) formation sessions
- Presentation mass
- First Reconciliation celebration (note: there is no practice for Reconciliation).
Preparation Programme:
Candidates will participate in two formation sessions, either through a home-based group or the parish-facilitated group.
- Home-based family groups are parent-led and coordinated with other families. Dates, times and, locations are determined by the group.
- Parish-facilitated group sessions are led by the Parish Sacramental Coordinator and held at Sacred Heart Church, Pymble.
Formation Session 1 - Choose ONE time slot that suits your family
- 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm, Saturday, 21st of June, Sacred Heart Church
- 10:30 am - 12:30 pm, Sunday 22nd June, Sacred Heart Church
Note: the time slots are capped at 20 participants. If the time you prefer is not available, please contact Rebecca Lloyd-Jones
Formation Session 2 - choose ONE time slot that suits your family
- 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm, Saturday, 26th June, Sacred Heart Church
- 10:30 am - 12:30 pm, Sunday 27th June, Sacred Heart Church
Note: the time slots are capped at 20 participants. If the time you prefer is not available, please contact Rebecca Lloyd-Jones
Presentation Mass: Attend any Pymble Parish Mass over the weekend of 21-22 June (OLPS or Sacred Heart Church, see the Parish website for mass times)
First Reconciliation Celebrations:
Candidates will have approximately 5 minutes for their first Reconciliation (Confession). Times will not be pre-booked - a number will be issued on arrival to ensure smooth flow.
- 11:00 am, Saturday 9th August, OLPS
- 3:00 pm, Saturday 9th August, OLPS
- 4:00 pm., Sunday 10th August, Sacred Heart Church
- 3:00 pm, Saturday 16th August, Sacred Heart Church
First Eucharist
The programme begins with a compulsory Parent and Candidate Information Session: Saturday, 14 June at 3 pm (this is a combined First Reconciliation and First Eucharist meeting).
Requirements for Completion:
A parent and the candidate are required to attend the following:
- Parent and Candidate Information Session
- Two (additional) formation sessions (this is in addition to the First Reconciliation formation sessions),
- Presentation mass,
- First Eucharist practice,
- First Eucharist celebration.

Practice & Reconciliation:
- 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm, Saturday 8th November OLPS
- 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm, Sunday 15th November, Sacred Heart Church
First Eucharist Mass:
- 11:30 am, Sunday 9th November, OLPS
- 11:00 am, Sunday 16th November, Sacred Heart Church
Important Reminder:
Candidate must attend reconciliation at least once more before receiving First Holy Communion as they will be receiving the Body of our Lord Jesus,
and need to be in a state of Grace.
If your child has additional needs, we want to ensure they can receive the sacraments in a way that is helpful and inclusive of them, please let us know.
Registration:
Registration covers both First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. Please note: the fee is not a charge for receiving the sacraments. It offsets the costs of books, materials, resources and infrastructure required to run the programme. Any additional funds received support the parish operations.
