Second Baby and Beyond!

King Edward Memorial Hospital offer this free* 2.5 hour Class to pregnant people who are birthing under the Women's and Newborn Services (King Edward Memorial Hospital, Family Birth Centre or Osborne Park Hospital), and who are expecting their second baby or beyond.

The class is run IN-PERSON with an experienced clinical midwife. It is a small group setting located in our Parent Education Department at King Edward Memorial Hospital. Do NOT attend this session if you are a first-time parent, this workshop is only appropriate for parents who are growing their family.

Second Baby and Beyond!

Welcoming another baby is a beautiful new chapter! Our Second Baby and Beyond class is designed to support growing families as they get ready for the arrival of their newest member.

This session covers:

• Labour & Birth – What to expect this time, pain relief options, and reflections from your previous birth(s)

• Infant Feeding – Returning to breastfeeding or bottle feeding, tandem feeding, and feeding multiple children

• Sleep & Rest – Safe sleep for babies, managing sleep for older children, what to expect for infant and older children sleeping patterns and prioritising your own rest

• Family Relationships – Introducing your new baby to your older child/ren, supporting siblings, nurturing your relationship with your partner, and building family bonds

Creche services are available during the class.

ELIGIBILITY

• Birthing under the Women's and Newborn Services (King Edward Memorial Hospital, Family Birth Centre or Osborne Park Hospital)

RECOMMENDED GESTATION TO BOOK

• We recommend booking/attending a class before you reach 37 weeks. Please note this class runs in both an in-person and an alternative online option. Spaces are limited in the in-person workshops.

• Creche services are available on-site for women if needing to provide care for their other child/ren.

LOCATION

This class is held IN-PERSON in our Parent Education Department, between 9:15am and 11:45am, for pregnant people and one support person. If you have a student midwife CCE, please email our department on parented.reception@health.wa.gov.au to enquire about an additional ticket for your student midwife to attend as well if you would like. 

We will provide you with a confirmation email and instructions on how to attend our department a few days prior to the session.

TICKET INSTRUCTIONS

• You only need to book 1 ticket - support people do not need to book their own ticket.

• When booking, please use the pregnant person's name and Medical Reference Number (see Image Below)
