About
A composition starts with a story. Whether you are working from a reference image or plein air, this workshop will teach you how to eliminate detail and create a dynamic painting.We will cover basic compositional formulas to create balance and harmony. From there, we will look for the Big Shapes by working with thumbnail sketches to quickly determine what will be visually pleasing.
We will look at how to simplify objects with gestural mark making, then introduce a limited palette to create a painting that is expressive and loose.
Mixed media materials supplied, participants to bring visual diaries and paper.
