Sometimes life throws challenges at people who least deserve them.

Many of you will know Mark Spence as a long-time member of the Goodwin Tennis community, a committed Cardio Tennis player, talented local drum teacher, loving husband to Lauren and proud dad to Archie, who has grown up playing tennis with us over the years.

A few weeks ago, Mark suffered a major stroke. While the road ahead is still uncertain, one thing we do know is that no family should have to face something like this alone.

As a community, we'd love to do what we can to support the Spence family during this incredibly difficult time.

Over two Saturdays in August we'll be coming together for two fun community events, with 100% of proceeds going directly to Mark, Lauren and Archie.

Whether you're a regular at Goodwin Tennis or have never picked up a racquet before, we'd love to have you there. You don't need to great at tennis to join in the fun!

🎾 Saturday 8th August
The Mark Spence American Doubles Cup - no experience needed
3:00pm-5:00pm - BYO drinks for after
West Port Macquarie Tennis Club

Your entry includes:
• American Doubles Tournament (play as an individual). Prizes to be won!

There will also be a BBQ lunch, silent auction and raffle draw to help raise funds.

How American Doubles works:
You enter as an individual rather than bringing a partner. You'll play short sets with different partners throughout the day, making it a fun and social format for all standards.

Registrations close Thursday 6th August.

Can you win just one point?
The 1 Point Slam is one of the most exciting and unpredictable tennis formats around. Every player gets one point, if you win the point you move on, if you lose the point then you're out. That's it! You will either get the chance to serve or return the point.

If you watched the Australian Open this year, you may have seen this format played by amateurs for the chance to win $1 million. Sadly, we can't quite match that prize money... But we can promise plenty of laughs, great tennis and the chance to make a real difference for one of our own.

After the Mark Spence 1 point slam we'll enjoy a BBQ together. Bring some cash with you! Registrations close Thursday 13th August.
