What fees do you charge?

There’s no cost to get started with TryBooking, and we’re totally free for free events.

For paid events, you can choose to use our payment gateway, or link to your Stripe account. You can choose your preferred gateway within your Account Dashboard.

Payments processed by TryBooking

  • 5% processing fee (charged to the event organiser by default)
  • 15p ticket fee (charged to the ticket purchaser by default)

As an Event Organiser, you have total control over who pays which fees - so you can choose whether to pass them on to your ticket purchaser, or absorb them fully.

Payments processed by Stripe

  • 75p ticket fee
  • Stripe fees: currently 1.5% + 20p (as of 1st January 2024)

As an Event Organiser, you can choose whether to absorb the ticket fee or pass it on to your ticket purchasers. You can't pass the Stripe fees on.

How can I pass on or absorb TryBooking fees?

By default, our processing fee is paid by the event organiser, whilst the ticket buyer pays the ticket fee.

You can choose to pass on both our fees to the ticket buyer, or absorb them into your costs. You can do this via Events > Global Event Settings > Fee Structure on your Dashboard.

Are there any hidden fees?

No.

The only fees you will pay are when a paid transaction is made on your event. There are no fees to use any feature, and no fees to access our customer support.

You also have the choice to pass on our fees to your ticket purchasers, so you can use TryBooking totally free of charge!

Are there any upfront or monthly costs?

No - there are no upfront fees, monthly subscriptions or lock in contracts.

All features on TryBooking, as well as our award-winning customer service, are available to all event organisers as standard. You'll only be charged when you sell paid tickets for your events.

Can I link to my Stripe account?

Yes, you can link your TryBooking account to your Stripe account to take payments using your Stripe gateway.

Do I have to provide my card details to sell tickets?

No - there is no requirement to provide card details to issue tickets.

If you have setup your account to absorb our fees for paid tickets, we'll automatically deduct these before adding the remaining balance to your account balance. No pesky invoices!

What payment methods does TryBooking accept?

We accept the following payment methods for online ticket sales:

  • Visa credit and debit cards
  • Mastercard credit and debit cards
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay
  • PayPal (TryBooking gateway only)

Our in-person Box Office app allows you to take payments using the following payment methods:

  • Contactless credit and debit cards
  • Contactless mobile payments (e.g. Apple Pay/Google Pay)
  • Cash

Event organisers can also provide gift certificates for purchase, which can be used against any event hosted on their account.  

Should you wish to accept payment by an alternative means (e.g invoice/cheque), you are able to record these offline payments using a discount code. For more information, see our Learning Centre: Recording offline payments

Do you offer discounted pricing for non-profits?

We believe that running events should be affordable for everyone. That's why we offer the same low fees to all event organisers, including charities, PTAs and other non profits.

You can also choose to pass on our low processing fees to your ticket purchasers, allowing your non-profit to use TryBooking for free.

How secure is the site?

TryBooking is fully compliant with all information security protocols to ensure the safety of all data stored on our platform.

All data stored on our systems is encrypted using industry standard encryption algorithms, and we are fully compliant with PCI security protocols for the storage of payment data. We never store your full credit card information - only storing the last 4 digits to show you which card has been used to make the booking.

We take all reasonable measures to ensure your data is secure. All our data is hosted securely in the United Kingdom. We have several layers of security to prevent against attack, including multi-factor authentication, the use of secure website connections on all pages and firewalls protecting against unauthorised traffic.

Can I use TryBooking to run private events?

Absolutely! You can make your event private and turn off all social media sharing via Event Publication. It is at your discretion to share your unique booking URL publicly or privately.

Can I charge an additional fee on top of my ticket price?

No, it is not possible to charge additional fees on top of the ticket price.
